Football was fun again last week, but this week it may not be again. K-State faces an offense capable of making people scream bloody murder in the game thread. On the bright side, Baylor’s defense did
manage to give up 27 points and 448 yards to Oklahoma State, so you never know…
The Game
The Kansas State Wildcats (2-3, 1-1 Big 12) visit the Baylor Bears (3-2, 1-1 Big 12).
K-State holds an 11-10 lead in the all-time series, secured during the last two meetings — both blowout wins by the Cats. They did not play last year. However, the series began with Baylor losing the first five games; since Bill Snyder’s first retirement, the Bears have a 10-6 lead.
Sawyer Robertson is averaging 343 yards and 3.4 touchdowns a game for the Bears. Averaging. Obviously, this will present a problem, although the Wildcat secondary has looked better than they have looked in awhile. On the ground, Bryson Washington is averaging almost 100 yards a game; given K-State’s struggles against the run, that’s a problem too.
You get the idea.
Kickoff
Saturday, October 4, 11:00am CT at McLane Stadium (45,140) in Waco, Texas.
Tickets
My friends, if you’re going to be in Waco or can get there, you’re going to be able to get into the door for as low as seven (7) American dollars. There are seats on the Baylor sideline close to the field for $27. You know where there aren’t any seats? On the K-State sideline in the lower deck. Hmmm. That $27 is about the median price for all available tickets on the secondary market. More hmmm.
Weather
The day’s going to start sunny and 65°. It’ll get to 80° by kickoff, and and it’ll be pushing 90° by the final gun. In other words, great day for football, it a little warm.
Odds
For the first time all season, K-State is the underdog — and a relatively heavy one. Baylor opened as a 6.5-point favorite; it’s narrowed by a point as DraftKings now has it at Baylor -5.5, with the over at 60.5. That’s the highest over of the season for a Wildcat game, and indicates a 34-27 win for the Bears. The money line is +170 for K-State, -205 for Baylor. Oddsshark, which has been wildly over-optimistic in regard to the Cats all year, projects a 33-23 win for K-State.
