The Miami Dolphins will be without backup running back Jaylen Wright for their Week 9 game against the Detroit Lions. Listed as questionable on Friday’s injury report with a quadriceps issue, Wright will miss the game after being listed as inactive. While Wright’s impact in the running game has been minimal this year, he has been effective as the team’s primary kick returner, with several long returns this season.
Running back Kaytron Allen, the Washington Commanders’ sixth-round pick this year who
the Dolphins claimed off waivers a month ago, will make his Miami debut. Also listed as questionable with a quadriceps injury, Allen was not included on the inactive list and will, presumably, be the primary backup behind starting running back Ollie Gordon II on Sunday.
Miami also elevated Carlos Washington from the practice squad to provide running back depth.
Miami’s inactive list also included wide receiver Jalen Tolbert, cornerback Marcellas Dial Jr., cornerback Reese Taylor, guard Christian Haynes, tackle Chukwuebuka Godrick, and tight end Justin Joly.
Edge rusher Malik Herring, listed as questionable on the injury report with a neck problem, will be active.
The Detroit inactive list included center Cade Mays, cornerback D.J. Reed, and edge rusher DJ Wonnum, all of whom were ruled out of the game on Friday’s injury report. Mays is dealing with an ankle injury, Reed has a hip issue, and Wonnum had a concussion and is still working his way through the protcols.
Detroit’s injury report also included linebacker Jack Campbell and safety Kerby Joseph with “out” designations, but Campbell (neck) was moved to injured reserve on Saturday and Joseph (knee) has not been activated off the physically unable to perform list for the season.
Edge rusher Ahmed Hassanein, tight end Jackson Meeks, running back Jacob Saylors, and defensive lineman Mekhi Wingo round out the inactive list for Detroit. Saylors had been listed as questionable with a neck injury.
Kickoff for today’s Week 9 matchup is set for 1 p.m. Eastern from the Dolphins’ Hard Rock Stadium.
