Week 6 of the NFL regular season came to a close with 17 Maryland football alumni seeing the field.
Safety Nick Cross continued to play a key defensive role in the early success of the Indianapolis Colts.
Cross made five tackles in a 31-27 win over the Arizona Cardinals to continue the Colts’ impressive 5-1 start to the season.
The 24-year-old has had at least five tackles in each of the first six games. He had a high of 14 tackles and half a sack against the Los Angeles Rams three weeks ago, and his steady progression has continued.
His 47 total tackles leads the Colts’ defense and have him tied for 22nd-most in the league. Cross has also seen early season success in run defense. He has a grade of 82 in defending the run, per Pro Football Focus.
Indianapolis sits atop the AFC South and is tied for the best record in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Colts hit the road to take on the Los Angeles Chargers in a Week 7 matchup on Oct. 19.

- Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Jordan Phillips recorded two tackles in 26 defensive snaps against the Los Angeles Chargers. He received a grade of 74 by Pro Football Focus, his highest defensive grade after six weeks.
- Miami Dolphins safety Dante Trader Jr. made two tackles against the Chargers.
- Chicago Bears linebacker Ruben Hyppolite II was inactive for Week 6.
- Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Tai Felton was on bye week.

- New York Jets defensive tackle Byron Cowart remained on injured reserve with an ankle injury. Due to not being designated to return from IR prior to roster cut day in August, his season is over unless he and the Jets reach a settlement.
- Wide receiver Rakim Jarrett remained unsigned. He last had a tryout with the New York Giants on Oct. 3 and New England Patriots on Sept. 24. He was previously a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ practice squad.
- Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jeshaun Jones was on bye week.
- Defensive end Durrell Nchami remained on the Indianapolis Colts practice squad for Week 6.
Week 7 of the NFL season kicks off with the Steelers and Bengals playing Thursday Night Football on Oct. 16.
