What a difference a week makes. After surging through the Twins, Cardinals, and Rays, the Yankees had major momentum heading into their massive four-game series with the Boston Red Sox, only to drop the first three games in frustrating fashions: first they couldn’t hold a lead, then they couldn’t score at all, and then they got blown out. They salvaged the finale on Sunday to keep within a half-game of their archrivals (and the top Wild Card spot, which they abandoned over the weekend), but the biggest
thing their lone win accomplished was breaking an eight-game losing streak to the Sox after winning their very first matchup of the year.
New York’s implosion in their biggest series of the month unfortunately brought about more questions than answers. Is the bullpen a Fernando Cruz away from stabilizing, or was the deadline revamping not enough to fix it? Can the Yankees trust in Will Warren if his starts either look highly promising or doomed off the rip with little in-between? Is Max Fried back in command after six shutout innings, or do you need to see more considering his awful month overall? If you have questions like this, or anything else on your mind, send ‘em in for a chance to be featured in our Yankees mailbag.
Answers will run on Friday afternoon. All questions received by the night of August 28th will be considered. You can leave your submissions in the comment section below or by e-mail to pinstripealleyblog [at] gmail [dot] com.
