It’s Sunday, and you know what that means — it’s time for our weekly social media roundup! Unfortunately, the Yankees’ season came to an end this week, as they fell in four games to the Toronto Blue Jays,
a team that has been their kryptonite this season, in the ALDS. While this was a disappointing outcome for what has been an overall fun season, there is still quite a lot to celebrate as the season winds down. And so, without further ado, let’s get started!
Congratulations, CC!
This has been the year of CC Sabathia, as the former Yankees southpaw was inducted into the Hall of Fame. That being said, success on the baseball field isn’t the only thing worth celebrating. This past week, Sabathia celebrated ten years of sobriety, marking the anniversary of the day he checked himself into rehab ahead of the 2015 postseason. Congratulations on the accomplishment, CC!
The End of the Road
“Thank you, fans.” While the gesture certainly is appreciated, no fans loves to see this social media post, because it means only one thing — the season is over, and the team has fallen short.
In the days following Wednesday’s loss, members of the Yankees family posted reflections on the end of the season, starting with annonucer Dave Sims on the subway heading home after the game (side note — someone give Sims a book on emoji meanings, as kids these days don’t use that for “sad,” but for…uh, something else).
Judge’s Shot
For the last two years, we have continuously heard that Aaron Judge “wasn’t clutch” and “couldn’t hit in the postseason.” Well, this October, Judge answered those questions, and unsurprisingly, the Yankees’ social media teams were more than happy to highlight his big moment.
Celebrity Sightings at the Stadium
Unsurprisingly, October baseball at the Stadium brought a ton of celebrities to the Bronx. After the Wild Card Series against Boston brought New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart and tight end Theo Johnson, the ALDS saw Bad Bunny, CC Sabathia, Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers, Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner, and more.
The WNBA Season Ends
Ryan Ruocco has not been around the YES Network in recent weeks, as his commitments to the WNBA on ESPN have taken priority. As the WNBA Finals came to a close this week, he took the opportunity to reflect on the end of the season.
Some Photos from the Families
And last, but certainly not least, we have some photos from the players and their families to wrap up the season.
