Former Duke teammates and roommates Cooper Flagg and Kon Knueppel had their first NBA meeting Saturday, not counting summer league, with Knueppel’s Charlotte Hornets beating Flagg’s Dallas Mavericks, 116-102.
Knueppel finished with 12 points, four rebounds, one steal, one assist and (unfortunately) five turnovers.
For his part, Flagg got 11 points, three rebounds, four assists, three steals and also five turnovers. It takes a while to adjust to the speed of the NBA.
We don’t see any direct highlights
for Knueppel, but here are Flagg’s. You have to think that Dallas is pretty pleased. He did have too many turnovers here, but in general, he’s well ahead of the curve, as Duke fans would expect, and he seems to be doing a solid job of filling in for Kyrie Irving as he rehabs from his knee injury.
Sion James did not play in this for Charlotte but Mason Plumlee got 11 minutes and four rebounds.
