They’re playing for the future now,
Looking for a higher ceiling;
Leaving Bo on the outside,
With a businesslike feeling.

You could see the writing on the wall When Ingle lit up the stats; The Guardians were already drooling, Looking for more impressive at bats. In the desert’s afternoon sun, Keeping the daily lineup in check; It wasn’t about the service

time, But the bat they need on deck.

You could see the writing on the wall
When it was clear that Cody Huff
Wasn’t just a defensive catcher,
And that his bat might be enough.
The Cleveland fans are watching close
As the names on the lineup changed;
Staring at a depth chart
That was suddenly rearranged.

You could see the writing on the wall
When they traded for Patrick Bailey;
This could be the end of Bo —
Not a certainty, but a maybe.
With a new man behind the dish
And the pitching staff in sync,
Bo was left alone to wonder
If his season was on the brink.

You could see the writing on the wall
As the brother-bond was split;
No more Naylor-Naylor high-fives
After every game-changing hit.
The Guardians are a business,
And the business had its say —
It’s a long road back to Cleveland
