Happy Friday, y’all! Arsenal men return to the pitch tomorrow morning at 7:30 am ET against Nottingham Forest. Boy, do I need the Premier League to be back. It’s been a week, he said, gesturing vaguely around at the world and the news. I think I’m doing better about recognizing when it would be best to put down the phone / close the webpage tab / unplug generally, but it can be like that train wreck you cannot look away from. It doesn’t help that much of what we consume online is literally designed
to keep you on the page (or app).
Earlier this week, Chelsea caught 74 charges from the FA over agent payments. I look forward to them being resolved sometime around 2030. It would be great to see Chelsea and Manchester City (whose 115+ charges are still outstanding and unresolved) hit hard over their financial doping that radically transformed the football landscape for the worse, but I’m not going to hold my breath. Money talks and they’ve both got a lot of it.
Moving on to something less cynical, it’s been lovely in D.C. this week, and the forecast looks nice for the weekend. It might get a bit warm, but we’ll manage. I’ve got my fall yardwork to do, including making my first attempt at improving the grass in my yard. I want to thicken up some patchy places and grow some where I’ve got mostly dirt. I’m certain to have it looking like the carpet at the Emirates in no time, right? I’d appreciate any tips / pointers y’all have. What other annual fall yard projects should make the to-do list?
