Bayern Munich’s teenage phenom Lennart Karl captured headlines with his first Champions League start on Tuesday against Club Brugge — and then captured hearts by immediately conjuring up a dazzling strike
for his first-ever competitive goal for the club.
That the kid has eyes for goal was no surprise, though, to his head coach.
“Lennart has been training with us for seven-to-eight months. He got used to the team and to the boys. He’s a goal threat, he’s always a goal threat in training and was a goal threat in the friendly games,” Bayern boss Vincent Kompany said after the match in comments captured by @iMiaSanMia. “He used his chance today. I don’t put pressure on young players and don’t expect them to be key players, but I think he had a solid performance today.”
Solid might be an understatement. But understated might just be the right way to bring this talented youngster along.
Bayern Munich hosted Club Brugge in the Champions League and while the Belgian side was game, the Bavarians were just better. A lot better.
