The Jacksonville Jaguars had something to prove following their Week 2 road loss to the Denver Broncos. They did that and then some, proving they belong with a dominant, 29-point blowout of the reigning AFC Super Bowl runner-up, the New England Patriots. Trevor Lawrence had an efficient day, spreading the ball to nine different pass catchers, while the defense completely shut the Patriots out of the end zone.

In Case You Missed It
After both teams’ early defensive success, which included three consecutive punts, Patriots quarterback Drake Maye made the day’s first mistake. With the Patriots moving down the field into scoring range, Maye turned the ball over, fumbling it back to Jacksonville to end the drive.
After the turnover, the Jacksonville offense put together the game’s first score on a 10-play, 62-yard, 5:27 drive, highlighted by explosive catches from Parker Washington (18 yards) and Josh Cameron’s 12-yard touchdown catch. However, the first-half turnovers didn’t just belong to Maye, as one series later, Lawrence’s pass to Brenton Strange was dropped/deflected by the tight end and intercepted by New England cornerback Marcus Jones. The turnover in their own end of the field cost Jacksonville just three points, with the defense holding New England to just three yards on the drive, however.
The Jacksonville offense picked up where it left off before the turnover, putting together a nine-play, 62-yard touchdown drive highlighted by a 23-yard Brenton Strange catch and capped by Jakobi Meyer’s redzone touchdown.
New England, driving to the Jacksonville two-yard line, looked ready to cut the Jaguars’ lead to one-possession when Maye suffered his second turnover of the first half – this one, a third-down, redzone, attempt directly to cornerback Travis Hunter. This was Hunter’s first career interception, saving a touchdown.
Jacksonville was unable to turn the ensuing drive into points, as the Cam Little 70-yard field goal, with time expiring, sailed wide right. However, the kick, against the wind, somehow still had the length.
QB Trevor Lawrence ended the half 13 of 20 with 111 yards, two touchdowns, and 1 interception (91.9 passer rating). RB Bhayshul Tuten had 8 carries for 48-yards (6.0 per carry).

Following the half, New England’s day of mistakes continued, to the joy of the Jaguar faithful. After a 10-play, 42-yard drive, Patriots kicker Andy Borregales missed a chip-shot 38-yard kick.
The Jaguars’ offense continued their onslaught, compiling a 15-play, 72-yard drive capped by an impossible 17-yard Parker Washington catch while being interfered with. Immediately following the ensuing kickoff, cornerback Jarrian Jones continued the turnover party, securing his first interception of the year. Chris Rodriguez scored on a five-yard rush on the next play. This score resulted in a 28-3 lead and effectively sealed the Jacksonville victory.

- Offense: QB Trevor Lawrence: 19/29 for 182 yards, 6.3 average, 3 touchdowns, 1 interception, 102.9 passer rating. As efficient as he could be, this was essentially a four-touchdown day, as Lawrence purposefully stopped short of scoring in the fourth quarter. Tuten scored on the following snap.
Post-game notables:
1. Dominant in Duval
While Sunday’s matchup may not have been perfect, it would be hard to identify a more dominant Week 3 performance on the scoreboard, as the Jacksonville defense consistently gave New England quarterback Drake Maye fits in the secondary. While the pass rush occasionally gave Maye slightly more time to scan the field when rushing four, the back end forced two interceptions, with Maye surrendering a third unforced turnover. Offensively, Jacksonville did what good teams do, capitalizing on a struggling opponent’s mistakes. The Jaguars won the turnover battle while also winning in points off turnovers, 14-3.
2. BTJ Moving Down The Depth Chart?
Rookie receiver Josh Cameron notably received many of the opening-half third-receiver snaps over third-year, 2024 rookie-of-the-year finalist Brian Thomas Jr. following a rough Week 2 performance featuring two dropped passes. Meanwhile, Cameron secured his second career red zone touchdown against the Patriots, entrenching himself as a bona fide red zone target for this offense. Meanwhile, Thomas received just one target against New England, an eight-yard catch.
3. Hunter makes his mark
Travis Hunter’s day started off rough with the second-year dual-threat athlete surrendering an opening-drive 21-yard catch to Patriots receiver Mack Hollins. However, on a day when he noticeably played more snaps than in prior weeks on defense, he also secured his first career interception. This one was a red-zone, touchdown-saving catch.
