Real Madrid close to losing their rights over Alex Jimenez – report

Real Madrid are two Bournemouth games away from losing any rights they currently hold over Bournemouth’s breakout star and former Castilla player Alex Jimenez, according to The Athletic.

Jimenez joined

Bournemouth on loan from AC Milan in the summer, and has amassed 1382 minutes in the Premier League so far. The player is two appearances (45 minutes or higher) away from the minimum threshold that would trigger the mandatory buy clause that was in his contract for 19.5 million euros.

In that case, Real Madrid’s right of first refusal and buy-back clauses will no longer be applicable, as Bournemouth would have to sign Jimenez immediately. The only way Real Madrid would keep their clauses is if Jimenez returns to Milan at the end of the season, which seems unlikely.

If the buy clause is triggered, Milan will receive the first five million euros, and then the remaining half of the transfer fee (19.5 million euros with a maximum five-million bonus), and Real Madrid will receive the other half of that fee.

It looks increasingly likely that Jimenez will end up as a permanent player for Bournemouth, as he is starting for the club a lot more than he was at Milan.
