It didn’t take long for Bear McWhorter to find a new school to call home, as the former Michigan Football offensive line signee in the 2026 class has committed to Auburn.
The 6-foot-3.5, 293-pounder from Georgia was released from his letter of intent last week following the firing of head coach Sherrone Moore. He is now the second former commit to head elsewhere, as four-star tight end Matt Ludwig also got out of his letter of intent and has since
committed to Texas Tech.
Losing McWhorter is not surprising, but his decision to go to Auburn is pretty shocking. His final two schools were Michigan and Alabama, so it would have made sense for him to head to Tuscaloosa, especially given he was named after legendary coach Bear Bryant. Instead, he will head to their biggest rival and play for first-year head coach Alex Golesh.
The Wolverines have four offensive linemen remaining in their 2026 class — four-star Malakai Lee, four-star Marky Walbridge, three-star Tommy Fraumann and three-star Adrian Hamilton.
