The Cleveland Browns have officially acquired veteran offensive tackle Cam Robinson from the Houston Texans this morning, and it could end up being one of the best moves by the team in 2025.
After how badly
Cornelius Lucas played against the Lions in week 4, it wasn’t surprising to see the team trade for another player at the position. Lucas faced Lions star pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson a total of 17 times on Sunday and gave up 2 sacks, one of those being a strip sack, and 5 total pressures. That’s completely unacceptable, and a huge reason why the passing game struggled so much, alongside the drops by Cleveland receivers.
Robinson has consistently been an above-average pass blocker in the NFL, having started 102 of 104 career games played for Jacksonville, Minnesota, and the Houston Texans, most recently in 2025. He opened up the year as Houston’s starting left tackle while rookie Aireontae Ersery was getting up to speed.
He’s been pretty underwhelming as a run blocker throughout his career, but he’s surprisingly been better as of late, 2025 being the first year where his run-blocking grades were better than 64.0.
If Robinson can stay healthy for the entirety of 2025, the left tackle position may have just been “fixed” with this move. His pass protection expertise should be able to help stop the bleeding on the edge, giving whoever plays quarterback for Cleveland throughout the remainder of the season a more stable pocket to operate in.
Yes, Joe Flacco obviously has limited mobility, but it’s been magnified because he’s been getting pressured off the edge almost immediately. The Browns have to take what they can get when it comes to being able to chip away at their problems, right now. Adding Robinson could end up being a pretty big piece to solving one of their offensive problems in 2025.
