The Seattle Seahawks have cut their roster down from 91 players to 53, formed their 17-man practice squad, and now they’re just two days away from opening their Super Bowl repeat quest against the New England Patriots. With a new season comes new jersey numbers, and the end of preseason means a few switcheroos thanks to some freed up spots.
So as to not be confused when the Seahawks step onto the field on Wednesday night, here are the latest number swaps entering the regular season.
Seahawks jersey number changes
RB Emanuel Wilson:
No. 23 (previously No. 27)
S D’Anthony Bell: No. 34 (previously No. 23)
CB Avery Smith: No. 27 (previously belonged to Emanuel Wilson)
OL Beau Stephens: No. 70 (previously No. 60)
WR Julian Hicks: No. 82 (previously No. 1)
CB Terrion Arnold: No. 17 (previously No. 34)
Starting linebacker Drake Thomas also switched to No. 32 from 42 earlier in the offseason.
That should be everyone accounted for! You won’t be seeing Arnold any time soon given he’s on the commissioner’s exempt list, while Hicks is unlikely to get playing time while on the practice squad. The ones to focus on for game day snaps are Wilson, Bell (for practice squad elevations), Smith, and Stephens.
