Soon after completing a star turn that saw him grab a brace of assists in Everton’s 2-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion, England international forward Jack Grealish spoke about his choice to come to Everton on loan.
“I absolutely loved my time at Manchester City, I had a great four years and won a lot of things. I thought it was time for a change and as soon as I spoke to the manager David Moyes on FaceTime, I knew this was the place I wanted to come.
“There was a lot of reasons I wanted to come here,
today shows why.”
After 133 years at Goodison Park, Everton made the move to the brand new Hill Dickinson Stadium over the summer and today was the first ever league game to be played at this incredible new home of the Blues. When asked how important it was to win today on the historic occasion of opening a new stadium, Grealish added –
“It’s massive. First game at the new stadium, we wanted to show up for the supporters. I think we certainly did that.
“I’ve said that playing against Brighton is one of the toughest games, just the way they play. We’re very happy to get the win.”
