Barcelona expect Gavi to miss their next game against Valencia and now think he’ll also sit out the Champions League clash with Newcastle due to his current knee injury.
The midfielder has been sidelined with the problem and may be not be back for a little while.
Diario AS report the injury is “more serious than the official medical statement indicated” and that the current thinking is that he will not feature at St James’ Park.
Gavi is currently dealing with some discomfort in his right knee, and Barcelona
are understandably being cautious as it’s the same one which was operated on almost two years agao.
Barcelona are currently hoping that Gavi will be back for the Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain on October 1st which will hopefully be played at Camp Nou, meaning he’s also likely to sit out the league game with Getafe.
The situation makes for a frustrating start to the new season for Gavi, particularly after he had impressed during the pre-season tour of Asia.
