Don’t call it a slump.
Bayern Munich has dropped points in two straight Bundesliga matches and is still looking for its first clean sheet in league play in 2026. How much is it cause for concern?
“We’ve conceded a few more goals – more goals from open play,” Bayern center-back Jonathan Tah acknowledged Sky Germany interview (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “Before, half of the goals we conceded came from set pieces. That’s still the case, and we need to work on that.
“But it doesn’t feel like we’re going
through a rough patch. The other teams are adapting too – trying to do different things against us because they’ve had enough time to see what Vincent Kompany wants. We need to adapt to that as well.”
Bayern’s knack for conceding lately has sprouted into questions over whether Kompany’s tactics have already been figured out. But as Tah noted, it is normal for teams to have to continue adjusting — not only to their own changes in personnel but to what opponents start to do against them.
Whether or not this can be called a rough patch is a matter for debate. By the standards Kompany’s side has set this season, it has certainly been not the happiest of Januaries. It is important, however, that the Bavarians themselves don’t hit the panic button just yet.
