We finally have an update on Pitt transfer guard Jaland Lowe following the annual Blue-White Game at Historic Memorial Coliseum.
Lowe, who has been one of the most anticipated additions to the Wildcats’ roster, suffered a shoulder injury during the scrimmage and briefly left the floor to be evaluated.
During Saturday’s KSR pregame show, Matt Jones gave a small update on Lowe, suggesting that it’s possible Lowe will be back for the Louisville game in about four weeks, so it appears a season-ending injury
has been avoided.
Jones said he asked if he would come back for the non-conference or for Louisville. He said that he was told, “at this point, both of those are still in play.”
During his Friday press conference after the Blue-White Game, Pope said, “Jaland tweaked his shoulder. We’ll know more tomorrow.” The coaching staff plans to monitor Lowe closely to ensure he is fully healthy before the start of the season.
Lowe enters his junior year at Kentucky after a breakout campaign at Pitt, where he averaged 16.8 points, 5.5 assists, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game. His efficiency, however, is an area to improve — he shot 37.6% from the field and 26.6% from three-point range, but having a full roster and the return of Otega Oweh should help him share the load offensively.
The Blue-White Game served as a chance for fans to see Lowe in action alongside returning players and new additions. Despite the shoulder scare, Lowe’s composure, playmaking ability, and scoring instincts were evident, reinforcing the excitement surrounding Kentucky’s backcourt this season.
As the Wildcats prepare for the regular season, fans will be watching closely for updates on Lowe’s health. His ability to fully recover and contribute at a high level will be a key factor in Kentucky’s push for a deep NCAA Tournament run.
