Recruiting:
FSU could receive good news on portal front as Auburn LT Xavier Chaplin is set to announce his decision within the next 48 hours; it’s between FSU and Kentucky for him reported by Chris Nee of 247Sports.
FSU has filled its punter position with a strong-legged Australian who, like Chris Weinke, is starting his FSU career a little bit later than his fellow classmates.
JUCO QB Tre Guerra could be on campus soon; FSU offered him on January 6th and his recruitment is really heating up. He has since picked
up offers from Texas Tech, UVA, and LSU. He and Mike Norvell have something in common; they’re both former Central Arkansas Bears.
Football:
Freshman DB Shamar Arnoux is reportedly going to enter the transfer portal after playing significant snaps down the stretch of the 2025 season.
Should these portal entries remain in the portal other DBs will have an opportunity to step up; speaking of which, Happy Birthday Max Redmon:
Unfortunately when it comes to roster construction FSU is paying both the ‘this sport is lawless without a Collective Bargaining Agreement tax’ and the ‘I can get similar deals from programs whose head isn’t likely to be fired in 2026 so I want more money to stay tax’.
It will be a tough offseason to navigate but at some point FSU has to tell some of these players “good luck in the portal.”
Speaking of it looks as though the Desir twins will officially enter the portal; negotiations between FSU and the pair have not resulted in a resolution and as they submitted their paperwork two days ago FSU must now follow through with their submission. As talented as at least one of them is, letting them both walk may ultimately be the right decision.
