Facundo Buonanotte’s time at Chelsea is over after six months, eight appearances, one goal, and many questions about why he was even here.
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder arrived on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion in the closing stages of the summer transfer window, evidently surplus to requirements there and, as it unsurprisingly turned out, also surplus to requirements here. We might recall that initially he wasn’t even included in our Champions League squad registration.
With plenty of competition
for places and minutes at his position, Buonanotte hardly featured for Chelsea — “I felt in terms of the games and the minutes he’s had, it’s not quite what he [wanted]”, said Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior in a press conference today — so he’s now going to try his luck at Leeds United. Good luck to him!
According to The Athletic, newly fit Dário Essugo will take Buonanotte’s place in our Champions League squad, and could feature as soon as next week, against Pafos.
