At last weekend’s NCAA Outdoor Track East Regional, it was the #HurdleCuse crew leading the way for Syracuse.
Elijah Mallard broke his own school record in the 400m hurdles, running 49.11 to finish 8th and advance to his first NCAA Championships.
Jamir Brown tied his school record of 13.25 in the 110m hurdles. Brown took 2nd behind Auburn’s Ja’Kobe Tharp, who ran a world-leading 13.05. Brown’s incredible season has him heading to Eugene with a shot at scoring in the event.
Benne Anderson’s 3:42.70 1500m
time was 13th-fastest in the event, but 2nd in his heat behind Virginia’s Gary Martin and that gave Anderson an automatic qualifier to Eugene.
None of the Syracuse women will be advancing to Eugene. Peyton Rollins finished in 39th place in the 100m hurldes, finishing in a time of 13.62. Emma Eastman (34:48) and Maddie Heintz (35:07) finished in 33rd and 40th place respectively in the 10k while Selma Anderson was 31st in the 5k in a time of 16:14.
The NCAA Outdoor Track Championships begin on Wednesday June 10th so stay tuned for more updates.
