There was a fair bit of balancing in the NFC in Week 2, leaving the conference with nine 1-1 teams. One of them, thankfully, is your Dallas Cowboys. As America’s Team tries to get its second win this Sunday in Brazil, what else should Cowboys fans be rooting for from the Week 3 schedule?
NFC East teams
- Bears d. Eagles
- Commanders d. Seahawks
- Titans d. Giants
Two obvious picks here, wanting to see the Philly and New York go down. Unfortunately, the Bears are down to a fan in a Jim McMahon jersey at quarterback, so that may be asking too much. And while the Giants may no
longer be a division threat without Jaxson Dart, we don’t need them restoring confidence with a win, even if it’s against the Titans.
Why would we root for Washington this Sunday? They were potentially starting 0-2 even with Jayden Daniels, so his absence likely takes them out of any contention. Meanwhile, Seattle is 2-0 and much more likely to cause problems for the Cowboys in January. The Commanders are the lesser of evils this week.
NFC vs. NFC
- Falcons d. Packers
- Cardinals d. 49ers
- Buccaneers d. Vikings
A second-straight loss for Green Bay, and against the winless Falcons, would send the Cheeseheads into a spiral and put the Packers in a tough early-season hole. The 49ers and Vikings are both 2-0, so it’d be good to see them take losses. Neither the Cardinals nor the Bucs feel like down-the-road threats, so it’s a good week to keep possible NFC contenders within Dallas’ range.

- Browns d. Panthers
- Jets d. Lions
- Raiders d. Saints
- Broncos d. Rams
More easy picks in these inter-conference games. Outside of the Steelers and Texans, who we’ll get to next, Dallas has no vested interest in other AFC teams. So we’re happy to see them hang losses on our NFC rivals. The Lions, Panthers, Rams, and Saints are all 1-1 going into Week 3, so it’d be nice to have as many of them below .500 as possible.
AFC vs. AFC
- Bengals d. Steelers
- Colts d. Texans
As we’ve discussed before, Dallas owns the Steelers’ fourth-round pick and the Texans’ seventh-round pick in next year’s draft. So unless one of them is facing an NFC team whose record is more important to us than draft value, we’ll be rooting against them weekly.
