Hello TOC. This week we’ll obviously be keeping our eyes on “The Decision – Jeremy Fears Edition.” We’ll also continue previewing the top incoming freshman for Spartan Football. O looked at Collin Campbell last week. But let’s begin the week with a very brief recap of some of the less-publicized areas of MSU Athletics.
Women’s Golf competed in the NCAA Championships in Carlsbad, CA over the Memorial Day weekend and finished tied for 28th. Senior Taylor Kehoe advanced to the final round with a chance
to compete for the individual national championship and finished 23rd.
Track & Field is set to begin competition at the NCAA Championships in Lexington, KY. First round competition begins tomorrow, Wednesday May 27, and runs through May 30.
The Baseball season came to end with a 7-0 loss to #25 USC in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten tournament on Friday. The Spartans entered the tournament as the 12-seed and scored upset victories over 5-seed Purdue and 8-seed Iowa to get to this point but ran out of offensive firepower against the Trojans.
Men’s Soccer announced their 2026 schedule which will feature 11 home matches and 6 games against 2025 NCAA tournament teams. The annual Battle for the Big Bear against Michigan will take place on October 13 at MSU’s DeMartin Stadium.
Robbie noted in last week’s roundup that the Women’s Soccer schedule is also out. Michigan State is coming off a 15-4-6 season and an appearance in the 2025 NCAA tournament Elite 8. This was accomplished despite playing the nation’s most difficult schedule and it doesn’t let up in 2026. MSU will face nine teams from the 2025 NCAA tournament. The Spartans return 10 starters from last year and bring in the nation’s #7-ranked recruiting class.
Men’s and Women’s Tennis officially dedicated Spartan Tennis – the new home to both teams made possible by a $10 million contribution from Joan Secchia Nowak.
