Just like what we have done with the Mountain West, we dedicated the first two parts of our annual four-part series revealing our preseason award predictions, as well as our preseason All-Conference teams. Now, we dig into the conference’s 10 best players. Let’s dive right into it!
T-10. Izan Almansa, F, Gonzaga
T-10. Karson Templin, F, Utah State
9. Elzie Harrington, G, San Diego State
8. Kyle Jorgensen, F, Colorado State
7. DJ Hall, F, Texas State
T-5. Daniel Freitag, G, Oregon State
T-5. Josiah Lake II, G, Oregon State
4. Davis Fogle, G, Gonzaga
3. Massamba Diop, C, Gonzaga
2. Mason Falslev, G, Utah State
1. Braden Huff, F, Gonzaga
It’s not very often that three of the conference’s best four players all play for one program, but we’re also talking about a top-10 team in the country in Gonzaga. Huff was our unanimous preseason Player of the Year; Diop
was our unanimous preseason Defensive Player of the Year, while Fogle is a breakout candidate, assuming he stays healthy.
Falslev also cracking the top-2 isn’t a surprise. The reigning Mountain West Player of the Year averaged 16.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.9 steals on 51.4/390/76.4 shooting splits last season.
Gonzaga led all teams with four players cracking the top-10 (even though it’s really 11.) Oregon State had two and Utah State had two, while San Diego State, Texas State and Colorado State had one apiece.
