The Phoenix Suns announced Monday Jalen Green will be re-evaluated in two-to-three weeks with a right hamstring strain. While the team says he’s making “good progress,” and was re-evaluated recently, he’s still
not ready to make a return to the court.
Green, 23, was one of the main pieces Phoenix got back in return for Kevin Durant when they traded him to the Houston Rockets this past offseason. The former No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, he’s played just two games for Phoenix this season, scoring 29 in the first and just two in the second before he exited with his injury. His 29 points in his debut were the most points scored in a Phoenix Suns debut since Charles Barkley in 1992.
Green has been dealing with hamstring injuries throughout the season. He missed the first eight games of the year because of his right hamstring injury. Before being traded to the Suns, Green played in 314 of a possible 335 total games including playoffs he’s been eligible for, he’s already missed 26 this year.
After reports that he could return during the team’s road trip that starts on Friday, Green will not play again for Phoenix in 2025. If he returns in exactly two weeks, which is unlikely, his first game back would be against his former team in Houston.
