Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NCAA. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Missouri fans and fans across the country.
People always like to use the metaphor of “mountain top” when it comes to reaching the height of an accomplishment. The funny thing is, though, you know when you reach a literal mountain top. In any other case, it can be relative.
About 48 hours since Mizzou put the final nail on a 45-17 demolition of Florida – now that all the adrenaline
has worn off – it’s starting to feel like the win was something of a summit. If it’s not the mountain top, it’s at least the height of… something.
This week, we’re going to name what everyone has been thinking and saying in message boards and on forums: Is this Eli Drinkwitz’s best win in his seven years at Mizzou?
Going back through the years, there are certainly some contenders. The win over No. 17 LSU in 2020 was a bolt from the blue during the COVID-ravaged season. In the throes of mediocrity, Drinkwitz still managed a win at a South Carolina team that finished 9-4 in 2022. Then, of course, you have the 2023 and 2024 seasons which are full of fun and interesting wins – including the Ohio State bowl victory.
But a 28-point win over an AP Top 10 team? In a game where you were an underdog? On Homecoming? That’s pretty damn special. And something tells me it might win this poll. But no sense in predicting without actually asking the question, is there?
So let us know. Was this Eli Drinkwitz’s best win as the Tiger head coach? Are you partial to one of the 2023 victories? Or did we miss one that stands out?
