Nebraska is ready to get back on track this week as they take a trip out to Pasadena to take on the UCLA Bruins at the Rose Bowl.
After last week’s loss to USC and the loss of Quarterback Dylan Raiola,
some of you may not think that a win is in the cards. You my friends would be wrong.
The Huskers are going to end this season strong and it’s going to start this weekend with UCLA.
Here are your reasons why.
#1 HUSKER DEFENSE
Nebraska has limited opponents to less than 400 yards in every game this year.
Last week against a potent USC offense Nebraska limited them to 135 yards, that is the fewest passing yards they have had in 83 games.
UCLA is 13th in conference in total offense and this Husker defense is sure to be able to capitalize on that.
#2 SPECIAL TEAMS
There is no denying that this season the Husker special teams has had a major upgrade compared to the last few years.
Look for special teams to once again make some big plays. Jacory Barney Jr. is looking for his chance to get a punt return or a kickoff return touchdown.
It’s also time for another blocked kick.
#3 QUARTERBACK MYSTERY
While it’s really no mystery who will be playing quarterback for the Huskers, it will be a lot harder for UCLA to be prepared for TJ Lateef. Last week’s game did not showcase Lateef in a way that would be beneficial for a scouting report. While he did see action in two other games this season it’s still a mystery to all as to what the offense will look like with Lateef leading the way for the whole game. It’s also a lot different game plan for a defense when they have to worry about a mobile quarterback.
I’m hoping to see a lot of this action on Saturday night.
#4 PENALTIES
UCLA is last in the conference in penalties and penalty yards. Nebraska will need to use this to their advantage and capitalize on the mistakes of the Bruins.
Once again they’ll need to keep cool heads if the game gets a little chippy, but overall they did pretty well with this last week with USC.
#5 EMMETT JOHNSON
The ever elusive Emmett Johnson is going to key for this game. He has already rushed for more than 1,000 yards this season and UCLA is not going to slow him down.
Johnson’s ability to read the field, make people miss, and collect yards after contact is going to come up big on Saturday.
UCLA is last in the conference in rushing defense and this is a game where we will see Johnson break out a big run or two to put the Huskers up big.
Emmett Johnson will help the Huskers nab win number seven on Saturday.
GOOO BIIIIIGG REEEEDDD!
