Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl thinks his team’s loss to FC Augsburg in the Bundesliga had less to do with who was available for the match than how the teams on the field performed.
Simply put, FC Augsburg was the better squad on the day.
“The goal is always to win. Every Bundesliga game is complicated. Today, we didn’t manage to bring our best to the pitch. Augsburg did. So they deserved to win, and we have to congratulate them. We have to push ourselves to the limit in every game,
and we didn’t do that today. We’re obviously in an intense period, we have players unavailable, but we still fielded a good team. We have to look ahead and react, just like we have in the past. We have to do that on Wednesday and Saturday,” said Eberl (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Eberl is not wrong. Bayern Munich was flat and unfocused in the second half, where head coach Vincent Kompany’s subs also failed to make a positive impact.
It was just not Bayern Munich’s day on just about every level. Now, though, it is time to regroup and move forward for the Bavarians.
