La Liga president Javier Tebas has come up with some rare criticism for Real Madrid after Los Blancos hit out at the plan to play Barcelona’s game against Villarreal in Miami.
It’s now been confirmed that the match will indeed take place in the United States in December, but Tebas says that Los Blancos are in no position to criticise.
“Madrid has nothing to say on this issue,” he told Cope. Tebas went to say he’d like to move a Madrid game but doesn’t think it will happen: “With the current leaders
it’s impossible. It makes me sad because they don’t like everything LaLiga does. If it weren’t Miami it would be something else. We’re very bad and we don’t do anything right.”
Tebas also claimed that the clubs and players want to play overseas, despite Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong having said he does not agree with the decision at all.
“A rather demagogic narrative is being constructed. It’s Villarreal’s own fans who want to come to Miami, it’s the clubs that want to come to Miami, it’s the players who want to come to Miami , and we’re talking about one match out of 380.”
