It will be a tale of contrasts on Sunday when the Cleveland Browns meet the New Orleans Saints.
We’re not just talking about how the Browns are 5-3 and working to stay in the playoff hunt in the AFC, while the Saints are 2-5 and bottom feeders in one of the worst divisions in the league.
It is two stats that stick out about the squads:
- The Saints have scored just six points total in the first quarter this season, having been outscored by 38 points, while the Browns have tallied just 13 first-quarter points and have been outscored by 52 points.
- Those six points by the Saints came in Week 3 on a touchdown drive against Las Vegas, obviously their only first-quarter scoring drive of the season. But Cleveland’s defense has allowed scores on the opening drive of a game seven times this season.
Something has to give on Sunday in the Caesars Superdome, and hopefully it is not the Browns on the wrong end of this.
Because if they are, it could turn into another
long afternoon, especially if they have to play with their backup quarterback.
We will let you ponder that while we roll into today’s edition of the Daily Dawg Chow.
