As the 2026 season continues its preparations, new jersey numbers have been announced for several Seattle Seahawks players.
The newbies are here, including Noah Igbinoghene and Emanuel Wilson. But so are some familiar faces like Velus Jones Jr. and breakout linebacker Drake Thomas. Thomas wore 42 last year, now the only free number in the 40s. There was probably some finagling with running back Jones, who moves to 33 after wearing
32 last season. Thomas wore 32 in college at NC State.
The world remains in complete pandemonium as players are no longer bound by traditional position allotments for jersey numbers. The most popular battleground has been the 20s, as there are now no more available numbers.
The Seahawks won’t be adding too many numbers to the roster through the traditional draft with just four picks. Hopefully the longstanding tradition of successful undrafteds will fill out some of the remaining available numbers.
The draft – and subsequently more important news – will commence in less than 100 hours.
