Happy Friday, Athletics Nation!
With this all-too-fitting shot over the Green Monster at Fenway, Brent Rooker established a monster run of three consecutive seasons with 30 or more home runs.
Rooker led the A’s in home runs in both 2023 (30) and 2024 (39), but rookie first baseman Nick Kurtz currently tops the A’s 2025 leaderboard with 32 dingers, with Rooker and catcher Shea Langeliers tied for second at an even 30 apiece.
With three Athletics reaching the 30 home run mark this season, the team has tied its franchise record.
2025 marks just the fifth season in which three A’s have hit 30 or more homers. Not long ago, Tyler Soderstrom appeared to have a decent shot at joining the club, potentially setting a new franchise record. Alas, while Sodie has continued to hit very well into the fall, he hasn’t been hitting a lot of balls out of the park lately and has just one home run in September. Tyler would need six more in the A’s nine remaining games, so a quadrumvirate seems rather unlikely at this point.
Hitting 30-plus homers in three consecutive seasons is no small feat—not even Hall of Fame outfielder Reggie Jackson managed to do it. The last to pull it off was Khris Davis, who had three consecutive 40-plus home run seasons (2016-2018), though it is worth mentioning that Matt Olson may have had a 30+ homer three-peat from 2019-2021, were it not for the pandemic shortened 2020 season.
The A’s seem poised to continue be prodigious home run hitters in the seasons ahead, and I am here for it! Have a wonderful weekend, AN.
