After a three-game home stand at the brand-new Highmark Stadium, the Buffalo Bills hit the road to take on the Los Angeles Rams in primetime for Week 5 of NFL action. The Bills and Rams meet under the brightest football lights of Monday Night Football, and it’s a matchup with odds that currently favor the home team.
For the first time this season, Buffalo enters play as underdogs against their opponent. As of publishing, FanDuel Sportsbook lists the Bills as 2.5-point underdogs (+2.5 / -104) against the Rams
(-2.5 / -118) in Week 5. The money line opened at +126 for Buffalo and -148 for Los Angeles, with an over/under of O/U 53.5 (-110).
Given the way both teams have played to begin the season, it’s anyone’s guess as to what sort of game is in store in Week 5. The Rams were flat out of the gate, perhaps due largely to the way they prepared for a Week 1 game in Australia. Since that point, they’ve alternated between winning and losing toward a 2-2 record through four games.
The Bills stormed out of the gate on offense and a 2-0 record. They then sputtered to victory in Week 3 before a Week 4 collapse against the New England Patriots handed Buffalo its first loss of the season.
The injury reports for both teams will be of utmost importance during the week. Notably for the Rams is the injury to defensive tackle Aaron Donald, who missed Week 4.
The Bills suffered a litany of injuries in Week 4, with wide receiver DJ Moore re-aggravating his AC-joint sprain. Additionally, defensive tackle Ed Oliver had his ankle rolled up on by former teammate and Patriots fullback Reggie Gilliam, while defensive back Dee Alford picked up an ankle injury. Additional defenders in defensive back Te’Cory Couch and defensive lineman Landon Jackson also suffered injuries in Week 4. Buffalo was also without top cornerback Christian Benford, who missed the game due to a toe injury.
The last game between the Bills and Rams was an epic shootout. Buffalo ultimately lost 44-42 to Los Angeles during the 2024 NFL season, which ended their seven-game winning streak. Quarterback Josh Allen became the first player in NFL history to throw for three touchdowns and rush for three scores in a single game — a feat accompanied by his 342 passing yards and 82 rushing yards. Allen and Matthew Stafford combined for 662 yards through the air. Allen is 2-1 against the Rams since entering the NFL.
