Never count out Dominik Mysterio. When faced against the odds, he went full Dirty Dom to humiliate his father and earn a shot to challenge El Grande Americano for the AAA Mega Championship. The story unfolded on the latest episode of Lucha Libre AAA (Oct. 3, 2026) live from Leon, Mexico.
At Triplemania 34, Rey Mysterio used his general manager stroke to act as the backup referee to count for Grande’s epic title victory over Dominik. Dorian Roldan questioned the legality of Rey abusing his power out
of jealousy toward his son. Roldan teased a plan heading into Saturday night.
Roldan took the angle of protecting AAA. Rey’s actions put the company in the eye of the hurricane for a potential lawsuit. Roldan aggressively pointed out that Rey was never authorized as a referee for that match by the lucha libre commission in Mexico City. Roldan demanded that Rey reverse the win and hand the mega title back to Dom. Or, there will be legal consequences.
Grande wasn’t interested in all the mumbo jumbo, so he had a solution. Grande proposed a tag team match with stakes. It would be Grande & Rey versus Dominik & Omos in the main event. If Dom’s team wins, then he will receive a mega title shot at Heroes Inmortales. If Grande’s team wins, then Dom can never challenge him for the mega title ever again. Dominik calmly accepted the deal.
In the main event, the strategy was to isolate Dominik and avoid Omos. Grande was overzealous with an Irish whip sending Dom to the ropes, and Omos tagged himself in with a smile. Grande and Rey worked quick-paced double-team offense to knock the giant out of the ring. Down the stretch, Rey put Omos through the announcer table on a seated senton.
Nobody puts Dominik in the corner. Dirty Dom went into feral mode lashing out with rudo tactics. Dominik pulled the mask off Rey’s head to humiliate his father. Roldan distracted the referee, and Dom smashed Grande with the title belt for the easy pin. Dominik earned his mega title shot for Heroes Inmortales on October 24 in Mexico City.
Even though Rey lost his mask in WCW and we’ve seen his face, he still treats the mask as sacred. Rey has been masked for his entire WWE career. Removing a luchador’s mask like that is the ultimate sign of disrespect.
