From time spent in Carolina with the Panthers in the mid-2010s to multiple stints with the Buffalo Bills as a backup safety, to a coaching fellowship in Orchard Park, Dean Marlowe has plenty of ties to Brandon Beane.
The Monday following the 2026 NFL Draft, Marlowe announced on his Instagram that he had been selected for the Bill Wash Coaching Fellowship with the Bills.
The Cover 1 guys recently sat down with Marlowe in their Film Room on YouTube. The interview is chock full of insightful nuggets from
Buffalo’s new coach. Definitely check it out.
I want to zero in on Marlowe’s effusive praise of Bills rookie cornerback Davison Igbinosun based on his early exposure to the youngster during rookie minicamp and OTAs.
This was the question from Erik:
“Are there any players that have impressed you, when it comes to, not just on the field stuff, but off the field, Xs and Os, talking ball… is there anyone that has stood out early on in your coaching career?”
After deciding to focus on the “young guys” Marlowe said:
“From a DB standpoint… IGB is pretty impressive in terms of his understanding of game. Not even just his physical tools. The dude is 6’2”, 195-200 pounds and can run fast but also… his day-to-day approach, he carries himself like a pro already.”
Marlowe continued by further applauding Igbinosun for his veteran-like dedication to the film room in his first month in the building at One Bills Drive.
From a quick study I conducted in early May, I discovered that over the past decade, the Bills fourth cornerback — essentially the first off the sidelines after three “starters” (two outside, one slot) — played 36.5% of the snaps.
So even if Igbinosun doesn’t beat out Maxwell Hairston for the starting boundary gig out of training camp as a rookie, the Bills should at least prepare to see IGB on the field on roughly one-third of their defensive snaps in 2026.
And according to Marlowe and other onlookers, Igbinosun has apparently started his Bills career impressively, both on the field in spring practices and in the film room.
