Las Vegas Raiders’ starting running back Ashton Jeanty apparently injured his foot in practice Thursday and and he did not practice Friday as the team prepares to play at the New England Patriots on Sunday.
Jeanty, who was practicing fully with an ankle issue, was added to the injury report Thursday and he was limited by a foot injury. Raiders’ coach Klint Kubiak said Jeanty is questionable to play Sunday.
If Jeanty doesn’t play Sunday, rookie Mike Washington will start for the Raiders, who are looking
to ignite the game game. They are ranked last in the NFL on the ground.
Meanwhile, starting wide receiver Jalen Nailor will be out with a concussion. He didn’t practice all week. Rookie offensive lineman Trey Zuhn is also out with a knee injury that kept him out of practice Friday. He has been playing a handful of offensive snaps in Jumbo packages.
Starting right guard Jackson Powers-Johnson is expected tp play Sunday after he missed last week with a groin injury. The team could activate wide receiver Dont’e Thornton from the injured reserve this week. He practiced fully all week after dealing with a hamstring injury, but Kubiak said he will not be activated this week. He must be by Oct. 28.
Meanwhile, New England is battered, especially at cornerback. Four of their five cornerbacks has been ruled out including star Christian Gonzalez and fellow starter Carlton Davis and backups Karon Prunty and Channing Canada. That’s a huge opportunity for the Raiders. Receiver Mack Hollins, a former Raider, is also out as if fullback Reggie Gilliam.
