What is the story about?
For undergoing a fairly serious surgery that could have threatened not only his career in the major leagues, but also life, then coming back from that surgery and basically getting back to the playing level he was at, Zack Wheeler has been named the NL Comeback Player of the Year by his peers.
The Player’s Association saw fit to give him the award for the National League, meaning they saw how dominant he had been since returning. It was a fairly amazing season for Wheeler and a well deserved recognition.
