Dillon Brooks has helped the Phoenix Suns in many areas. Averaging a career high 21.3 points per game, he’s the team’s second-leading scorer, and his defensive presence and energy have been infectious
for the younger players on the team. Brooks is one of the main reasons the team is surprising many and on pace to make the playoffs.
While Brooks’ fiery attitude has helped the team in many outings, it’s also hindered them. He got his technical foul against the Miami Heat rescinded from the last game, but he’s on the verge of a suspension due to too many technical fouls.
Despite having two rescinded already, Brooks is leading the NBA in technical fouls with 13, he’s three techs away from a one-game suspension. Playing 34 games this season, he’s picking up a technical in about 38% of his games.
Brooks is known for getting technical fouls. Both last season and in the 2022-2023 campaign, he was suspended for surpassing the amount of technical fouls allowed; it looks like he’s going to do the same this year. The most techs he’s gotten in a season is 18, which he did with the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2022-23 campaign
Playing an aggressive style, some of Brooks’ most notable technical fouls this season have come when he’s faced LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. Against the Lakers last month, Brooks got into it with LeBron James. He has a longstanding history of instigating James, dating back to when they faced off in the 2022-23 playoffs, and he called him old.
For the betterment of the team, do you think Brooks needs to be more careful with his play style, or do you think the good outweighs all the technicals he gets?
