We are back with another episode of “Before the Roar,” where Meko, Brandon, and Morgan (Me) are breaking down the Detroit Lions’ Week 6 matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs. It’s another road trip for Detroit,
and it will be their first trip back to Arrowhead after beating the Chiefs in the first game of the 2023 season.
We jump right into how the Lions can continue their winning ways against Kansas City by discussing the injury reports surrounding both teams, including how we think the injury to left tackle Taylor Decker should be handled ahead of the Week 8 bye. After that, we turn to how Lions defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard’s unit can slow down the Chiefs All-Pro quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Spoiler alert—it could look somewhat similar to the plan Detroit used to slow down Lamar Jackson and the rest of the Baltimore Ravens’ offense.
On the other side of the ball, we got into how we think the Lions’ offense can attack a Chiefs’ defense that has had issues with slowing down opposing running games, as well as where their secondary could be susceptible to some downfield shots from Lions quarterback Jared Goff. And as always, we offer up our X-factors for the game as well as score predictions.
