The 5-4 Kansas City Chiefs are fighting for their playoff lives in 2025. It’s the wrong type of rarified air for a perennial Super Bowl outfit, but that’s exactly what’s unfolding now a mile up in Colorado against the 8-2 Denver Broncos. Here’s your open thread for the remainder of Chiefs at Broncos.
If Kansas City loses in Week 11, they must win out the regular season to have even a sliver of hoping in making it to the postseason as a Wild Card Team. That’s wild, right? The Super Bowl hangover is
a tale as old as father time.
Buffalo Bills fans do not like the Chiefs one bit, not since quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid took the NFL’s lunch money and ran away with almost everything in the cafeteria. So the move is to root against Kansas City, right? Maybe not, as Rachel Auberger explained in the Bills Rooting Interests guide for Week 11:
Don’t shoot the messenger, but it’s important to root for the Chiefs this week. Here’s why: If Buffalo were to get back into the top portion of the Playoff Picture soon, making sure Denver has the same number of losses as them would be key to moving into the two-seed spot. The Bills beat the Chiefs, so a Kansas City win improves Buffalo’s Strength of Victory score and gives them a tie-breaker over the Broncos due to common opponent win/loss/tie record —- for now. The two AFC West teams will meet again on Christmas Day, but so much can change by then that we need to just focus on what we know now. So, sadly, get your war chant ready for Sunday evening.
Yes, that’s not fun.
As always, be kind to one another — and in all things… Go Bills!
