After getting one player to flip from an SEC program earlier today, Mike Norvell and the Florida State Seminoles received more good news on the trail as 2026 defensive back Jordan Crutchfield has dropped
the Kentucky Wildcats in favor of the Seminoles.
Crutchfield is a 6-foot-3 inch, 200 pound defensive back for Vero Beach High School. 247Sports Composite considers him a three-star and the 440th best player in the nation (35th best safety, 58th best in FL). He ultimately chose FSU over 30 other offers from the likes of Auburn, Florida, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Louisville, Miami (Fl), Mississippi State, UNC, Penn State, South Carolina, Syracuse, and Texas A&M.
Crutchfield’s size and skill set make him an ideal replacement for former commit Tedarius Hughes, perhaps even a bit of an upgrade. He primarily lines up at safety for his high school team but FSU will likely cross-train him at corner and safety, particular the rover position. He runs a 4.5 forty and also plays wide receiver.
Maxpreps has stat totals for four games in which Crutchfield has accumulated six catches for 112 yards and two touchdowns, and 27 tackles (three for loss), three QB hurries, two pass breakups, one forced fumble, and an interception he returned 99 yards for a touchdown against Cocoa.
While lined up at receiver, Crutchfield shows no fear in fighting for contested catches, a skill and mindset that will benefit him at the next level. He caught three passes, including the game-winning touchdown, on a drive against Buchholtz:
The Seminoles add him to a defensive back class that includes four-star Chauncey Kennon and three-stars Sean Johnson and Trey Bell.
