Greetings, BBN!
Texas A&M blanked Samford, Georgia rolled Charlotte, Oklahoma suffocated Mizzou, Alabama shut down and shut out Eastern Illinois, Vanderbilt ran past Kentucky, Texas threw down Arkansas, Tennessee chomped Florida, Auburn soared over Mercer, South Carolina blew away Coastal Carolina, and LSU did the bare minimum to not lose against Western Kentucky. In case you didn’t notice a common theme, almost every game in Week 13 was a blowout and without drama. Such is Cupcake Week in the SEC.
Not much to watch on the TV and not much change in the standings. Rivalry Week will change all of that soon enough, though. Week 14 will be the epic grand finale the Southeastern Conference has been building towards all season. Before that arrives after Thanksgiving though, let’s take a look at the updated standings:
Notes:
- If Texas A&M beats Texas in its last SEC game, it wins an outright regular season title and makes the SEC championship game as the league’s only 8-0 team. If it loses, Alabama and Ole Miss must both lose their finales as well or the Aggies will be left out.
- If Alabama beats Auburn in its last SEC game, it will be in the title game if Texas A&M OR Ole Miss lose. Otherwise, they have to hope their opponent’s winning percentage compared to Ole Miss’s favors them over the Rebels for the 2nd spot.
- Georgia has finished its SEC schedule. They can only make the title game if Alabama or Texas A&M lose…or there’s a three-way tie between them, the Tide, and the Rebels that gives them the opponent winning percentage tiebreaker edge.
- If Ole Miss beats Mississippi State, it will be in the title game if Texas A&M and Alabama lose.
- Teams that cannot make a bowl: Arkansas, South Carolina, Florida.
- Teams that need to win out to make a bowl: Auburn, Mississippi State, Kentucky.
- Teams that have clinched a bowl: Everyone else.
