Is it already time for Oba Femi to win a world championship in WWE? Let’s see what today’s rumors have to say about it!
Top rumor of the day: World Champion Oba Femi?
With just Oba Femi, Dominik Mysterio, Je’Von Evans, and Jey Uso remaining in WWE’s King of the Ring tournament, betting markets now indicate that The Ruler is the favorite to go all the way and win the crown at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia on June 27.
If that’s how the rest of the tournament plays out, that could mean it will be World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns vs. Oba
Femi at SummerSlam 2026, instead of Femi vs. Lesnar.
While discussing the possibility of Reigns vs. Femi at SummerSlam, Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer said it feels too soon for Oba to win the world title just a few months into his WWE run. However, WWE “may feel pressed that they have to do something big” in light of increased criticism of the product, as well as Raw’s declining numbers on Netflix. Meltzer pointed out that the June 1 episode of Raw on Netflix actually had less same-day viewers in the USA (636K) than AEW Dynamite on TBS (638K), which is the first time that has ever happened.
Even with WWE losing momentum this year, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that “those in WWE have all said that things have been better with [Paul] Levesque in charge, such as more cohesive stories and less tearing things up and dropping them as was the case with [Vince] McMahon’s constantly changing scripts even when the public and talent were told Levesque was in charge.”
The rest of the rumors!
- False Finish heard that “a match between Rhea Ripley and Jacy Jayne for the WWE Women’s Championship has been pitched internally for SummerSlam in Minneapolis.”
- The Observer is under the impression that injured AEW star Kota Ibushi “has not given up hope for a return but it would not be any time soon.” People close to Kota think “he has every intention of trying to return but he worries that his balance, lateral movement, change of direction etc, might not come back” after breaking his femur last year.
- Per WON, WWE’s decision to once again change the date for Money in the Bank “has to do with talks with NBC regarding Peacock and ESPN regarding ESPN Unlimited.”
- According to Fightful Select, WWE’s decision to pull Evolve Champion Aaron Rourke from a Limitless Wrestling event on June 20 “is unrelated to Limitless Wrestling’s relationship with MyAEW.” It’s being speculated that there is an Evolve taping on that date.
- F4WOnline’s Dave Meltzer points out that President Trump’s claim that UFC Freedom 250 at the White House this weekend will be the most watched sports event of all-time is “beyond implausible.” Trump’s “laughable” statement means that any numbers that are officially released for the event “will almost surely be far from reliable.”
- For whatever it’s worth, Brooke Hogan is very skeptical of the Clearwater Police Department’s 72-page report this week that concludes Hulk Hogan died of natural causes. She told Bubba the Love Sponge that the “biggest thing that really goes up my butt sideways is that they lied to my face and said we don’t have any footage inside the house. They lied to my face and said we don’t have his blood. I’m like, that’s impossible.”
