The San Francisco 49ers inactive list is out, and it is similar to last week’s:
QB Kurtis Rourke (emergency QB)
LB Tatum Bethune
WR Jordan Watkins
OT Enrique Cruz Jr.
CB Ephesians Prysock
That means running back Kaelon Black will play, despite being listed on the injury report this past week with a groin injury. It also means Eddy Pineiro will kick for the 49ers in their home opener after missing all week with an illness.
Both were expected to suit up, based on the information late in the week. When
the Niners didn’t sign one of the two kickers they worked out on Saturday, that was a good sign for Pineiro’s availability.
And while Black was added to the injury report on Thursday, Kyle Sahnahan said the Niners were playing it safe with their rookie running back.
Speaking of rookies, Cruz Jr. and Prysock are inactive. A rookie from last year, Watkins, still can’t crack the lineup despite multiple injuries at the position. The 49ers must not believe Watkins can contribute on either offense or special teams.
