The Cleveland Browns announced their inactives for today’s game against the New Orleans Saints. Head coach Todd Monken made it clear that Shedeur Sanders would start this week, due to Deshaun Watson being in the concussion protocol. But just like last week with Tytus Howard, Watson was unexpectedly cleared of his concussion on Saturday.
That led to the biggest question of the Browns’ inactives, which was rightfully up for debate: even though he didn’t participate in team practices, should Watson still
be the No. 2 quarterback, with a chance to come in relief if things go south with Sanders? Nope. The team has officially marked Watson as inactive, and Taylen Green has also been designated as the third quarterback. That means there’s no ability for Watson to play today.
The rest of the Browns’ inactives are listed below:
Browns Inactives
- QB Deshaun Watson
- QB Taylen Green (third QB)
- C Parker Brailsford
- DT Maliek Collins
- LB Justin Jefferson
- CB Noah Igbinoghene
Saints Inactives
- QB Zach Wilson (third QB)
- S Mike Reid
- RB CJ Donaldson
- DL Christen Miller
- LB Jaylan Ford
- OT Mason Murphy
- DL John Ridgeway III
Meanwhile, the Saints got two huge players back from injured reserve on Saturday, including what should be the season-debut of first-round WR Jordyn Tyson.
