The New York Giants have now added a third wide receiver on Monday, signing veteran JuJu Smith-Schuster after a Monday morning workout.
Smith-Schuster joins Odell Beckham Jr. and Braxton Berrios on a suddenly remade Giants’ wide receiver depth chart.
The Giants worked out four wide receivers Monday morning. The only one not signed — so far — has been former Chicago Bears first-round pick Anthony Miller.
Smith-Schuster is a nine-year veteran who spent three of the last four seasons with the Kansas City
Chiefs, where Giants offensive coordinator Matt Nagy was on the coaching staff.
Smith-Schuster, 29, caught 33 passes in 17 games last season. He caught 78 passes for 933 yards for the Chiefs in 2022. Smith-Schuster has one 1,000-yard receiving season on his resume, but that was back in 2018. That season, he caught a career-high 111 passes for 1,426 yards while playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers, who selected him in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
Smith-Schuster has 481 career receptions.
The Giants lost backup wide receiver/kick returner Gunner Olszewski to a torn Achilles tendon on Friday. Darius Slayton has not practiced this spring after having surgery to repair a sports hernia. Malik Nabers may not be ready for Week 1 as he rehabs from two surgeries to repair a torn ACL and meniscus.
