Thoughts
Simms is a big dude at 6’4”, 315, and had interest from Boston College and James Madison before giving Purdue their first portal signing of the offseason.
Simply put, the Boilermakers needed a big body with experience for their defensive line after a few offseason defections, and Simms checks both of those boxes. I expect him to play a significant role in the rotation in 2026, especially against run-heavy teams, where the Boilermakers put their two big defensive tackles on the field.
Can he be more than a space filler/block eater?
No clue, but if that’s the only role he fills, it was a role that needed to be filled (if that makes sense).
