The Las Vegas Raiders’ offense is getting a boost on the practice field Wednesday as the team begins the work week for Sunday’s game at the New England Patriots.
Las Vegas head coach Klint Kubiak said both starting right guard Jackson Powers-Johnson and reserve wide receiver Dont’e Thornton will participate in Wednesday’s session.
Powers-Johnson missed the Raiders’ Week 4 home loss to the Kansas City Chiefs with a groin injury he suffered date in a Week 3 win at New Orleans. Monday, Kubiak said he hoped
Powers-Johnson, who was spelled by Caleb Rogers on Sunday, would be able to practice Wednesday. Barring a setback, the 2024 second-round pick should be in line to play at the Patriots.
Thornton has been on the injured reserve for the past four games. He missed most of training camp due to a hamstring injury. The Raiders will have 21 days to activate Thornton or to put him back on the injured reserve. He can be activated at any time.
The 2025 fourth-round pick was quiet in training camp before being injured after a slow rookie season. But with Jack Bech on the injured reserve, Thornton should get some opportunities when he’s ready to play.
Another Las Vegas receiver, Jalen Nailor, won’t practice Wednesday because he is in the concussion protocol after getting hurt Sunday. So, his availability for Sunday’s game is in question.
