Head coach Mark Campbell and the TCU Horned Frogs added a sharpshooter to the backcourt on Thursday, gaining a commitment from North Carolina sophomore guard Lanie Grant. The 5-foot-9 guard from Midlothian, Virginia played in 71 games and made 31 starts over her two years with the Tar Heels. Grant averaged 10.8 points, 2.3 assists and 1.9 rebounds per game while shooting 44% from the floor and 41.9% from 3-point range this year.
Grant is the second transfer to join the Horned Frogs, who’ve already added Stanford forward and former five-star prospect Lara Somfai. Grant started 29 games during the 2025-26 campaign, helping the Tar Heels to a 28-8 record and a third-place finish in the ACC. Grant, who earned ACC All-Freshman Team honors during the 2024-25 season, was named the 2024 Virginia Gatorade Player of the Year and was ranked the No. 59 prospect in the country out of high school. She averaged 7.3 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game as a freshman.
