Well, here we are again.
Indiana football has cancelled another future non-conference series, this time against Notre Dame. The Hoosiers and Fighting Irish were set to meet in Bloomington and South Bend in 2030 and 2031 seasons in a pair of games agreed to years ago when Tom Allen and Brian Kelly were still leading their respective programs.
Notre Dame has replaced those games with a rescheduled series against historic rival USC. It remains to be seen how Indiana, which reportedly requested out of the series, replaces those gaps in its schedule.
As of now, the Hoosiers have no power conference opponents in future non-conference schedules. Indiana has previously cancelled series against both Louisville and Virginia. Indiana’s approach to non-conference scheduling predates Curt Cignetti’s hiring as head coach, with the aforementioned Louisville series being cancelled during Tom Allen’s time leading the program.
